Live Sound Mixing Tips

I have a site called Mixing Live Sound that I put up to give some information on that subject. I have added a blog to the site. I titled the blog ‘Live Sound Mixing Tips‘. I intend to post a tip at least once a week on the blog. Blogs get indexed relatively quickly much of the time. I am hoping that the blog will draw some additional traffic to the site.

To date I have just made one post on proximity effect in microphones in addition to the blog announcement. I will be adding more posts soon. Stop by and check out the new blog. If you have something that you think that I should write about please leave a comment.

AudioArt MusicPlayer Site Updated

For several seasons I have had a CD burner in my house rack. I have recorded many shows along the way. Most of the CDs go directly to the Artists, but occasionally I end up with one or make a copy. I have put a few of these recordings up on my site AudioArt MusicPlayer. Some of the music is also on this site, but there is a bit more available on the MusicPlayer site.

Part of the reason for the update was to make the site more user friendly. I found a way to have the player load automatically when the player page is selected. The player does load in a pop-up window, so you may need to allow pop-ups for the site for it to work as intended. There is a text link on the page as a back-up plan. The player will open with the click on the link.

I do have more material, but most of it needs to be processed. I will try to get a few more players up on the site to improve the selection. I also have a standing offer to host indie music for others. Visit the site for details.

I have begun to use a digital mixer that resides on a PC. This is a very reasonably priced entry into the world of digital live audio production. The mixer runs on the software package developed by RML Labs. RML Labs has had a studio software package available since the early ’90′s and has now added a live version - The Software Audio Console – also known as SAC. This software provides a full digital mixing experience comparable to the finest hardware digital mixing systems. It is capable of processing 72 full stereo channels and has many features including a 5 band parametric eq with low and high pass filters and patchable gates and compressors on each channel.

I built my system and have been using it live. I have just put up a website with more information and an offer to assist in the assembly of SAC systems. Visit the new site at: Mixer In A Box.

This is just a little shout to let everybody that is listening know that I have added a link to the Live Sound Wiki and Forum portal page on the home page of the site. I have established the Wiki and Forum with the hope that they will become a community resource. I hope that all interested in Live Sound will sign up for the forum. The Wiki also needs contributors and suggestions for more articles. Please stop by and check these out and lets form an active community that will advance the art of Live Sound Reinforcement.

This is a bit delinquent, but I finally got around to adding an events page. I did short write-ups of two Toys for Tots benefit shows that I did the last two weekends. These should have been written up one and two weeks ago as separate entries, but that did not happen, I am sorry to say. You can view the write-up by clicking the Events Blog page in the right column.
